Tuzsér Jewish cemetery [March 2009]

Update

Tuzser is a small village in the Northeast of Hungary in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county.

The cemeteries can be found next to the others of the village, down the road called Temeto, from the center of town.

The European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative of the ESJF conducted a survey of the cemetery in or about 2015 and claimed that there were two cemeteries

However, it seems to us that there was only one, with a dirt road now dividing the two and the Christian cemeteries on both sides of the road, which seem to be encroaching upon the Jewish one(s) which are now deep into a forested area.

We found only one turned over stone on the side with the larger cemetery, which they call #1 (they found 5 at the time). We found 5  stones inside the forest, up to the edge of a ravine, where others may have fallen (they found and photographed 10).
